Fourth of July Road Trip Tips!

4th of july family

My favorite holiday is upon us!! I know there are so many of you who love the 4th as much as I do! Celebrating our freedom and our amazing country with family and friends is something I never take for granted. With all of the celebrating comes BBQ’s and parties with lots to eat and drink! Now you know your girl loves a good weiner and a cocktail or three (ha!), but I also want to share some of my tips and tricks to living our FASTer Way Lifestyle while still enjoying yourself!

We always road trip to Montana for the 4th, and my goal is to pack the car with all the healthy snacks so I’m not grabbing a bag of Doritos and a candy bar at every gas station! I have a long list of favorite snacks to pack and take with me on the road!

popcorn

Carbs!

1. Lesser Evil Popcorn-it is so dang good and satisfies the crunchy chip craving. It is also made without seed oils which is hard to come by when buying bagged popcorn.

2. Dried Fruit is an awesome way to get carbs in on the road. A sweet treat that both the kids and I love.

3. Pretzels and Plantain Chips are another carb option that the kids like too!

4. Go Macro Bars- they aren’t the cleanest, as the first ingredient is sugar, but it helps with my carbs and a bit of protein. It’s like a little treat!

Fats!

Fats are the easiest macro to meet, so I don’t focus too heavily on what I bring to snack on for fats.

1. Nut Butter Pouches like these Justin’s Brand, are easy to throw into my bag and paired with an apple are even tastier!

2. Nuts- I like to measure them out in individual serving sizes so I don’t over eat them, as that is easy to do!

3. Pork Rinds are a crunchy chip substitute!

Protein Snacks

Protein!

1. I love Archer Farms zero sugar beef jerky. It gives me the protein I need, easy to pack and no extra sugar added which is hard to come by when buying beef jerky.

2. Epic Bars-Expensive but delicious and a really clean option!

3. Tuna packets- Yes they stink, but such a great option to get even more protein in!

4. If you are in a pinch you can also grab protein shakes to bring in the car with you. Definitely not the cleanest option, but when you are short on protein they will do the trick!

Now we all know that I would be lying if I said we never grab fast food when traveling! I created a Fast Food Guide for you that shares all my favorite on the go options! I always try to focus on my protein first! I’ll do a burger on lettuce or chicken sandwich with a gluten free bun!
